    Dr. Angelo Carlo Rose, D.C.

Bogota Chiropractic and Holistic Center originated as a sole practice that was started by my father, Dr. Angelo C. Rose (correct family name is Amoruso) out of Jersey City, New Jersey.  He began his career in 1956 after graduating from the Chiropractic Institute in New York City.  He would later expand and move his practice to two locations, one in Teaneck, NJ and the other in nearby Bogota NJ.  However, Dr. Rose’s career in Chiropractic truly began many years earlier after a life-changing experience in college.

Angelo Rose had earned a scholarship to play football at the highly esteemed William & Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia.  Early in his college career, he was playing in a football scrimmage when fate would intervene in his life forever.  While attempting to block a punt, Angelo was kicked violently in the head and left blind in both eyes as a result of the impact.  After a medical examination, the doctors determined that he would most likely be blind for the rest of his life.  No longer able to see, he was forced to leave school and return home to his family in Jersey City.

While back with his family and devastated from his injury, Angelo began learning to read brail and attempting to move on with his life.  Several months passed by when, once again, fate would intervene in his life, drastically altering its course once more.  At the request of his sister Mary’s husband, Angelo decided to see a local Chiropractor.  I can still remember my father telling me the story…..it’s like he is right here in front of me, and I can hear his voice.  He described the first adjustment to his neck as painful and frightening.  Not really hard to imagine considering he was never adjusted before and he was quite upset about what had happened to him.  In fact, I remember him telling me he yelled at the doctor and stormed out of his office!  However, that would not last long as his mother demanded that he go back to the doctor and apologize and allow him to try to help.

Shortly after the initial experience with the Chiropractor, my father said that he returned for further treatment.  That is when his life would change forever.  He described to me lying in his room in bed, looking toward where his window was.  He began noticing that he could see light where the window was.  He compared it to looking into the sun, where you can’t really see anything but a bright hazy light.  Ultimately, over the next few weeks, his eyesight began to improve to the point where he had his full vision back.  It’s a story that almost sounds too good to be true, one that you would expect to hear in a movie or a novel.  As a result of this amazing healing experience with Chiropractic, Angelo decided that becoming a Chiropractor was what he wanted to do with his life.  He enrolled in the Chiropractic Institute and graduated in 1956.  He went on to study and work with many pioneers in the fields of Chiropractic and nutrition of his day.

Over the 50 years that my father went on to practice Chiropractic he built a legacy of kindness, hope, and healing.  Dr. Rose was a perpetual student.  There is hardly a time I can remember from growing up where I didn’t see my father’s nose buried in a book.  He would make notes, revise treatment plans, and even design unique dietary approaches to a vast array of illnesses from Psoriasis to Multiple Sclerosis.  He became well known and respected for helping the most hopeless patients. Patients from all over the Tri-State area would come to him in search of natural, holistic healing.

    Dr. Christopher J. Amoruso, D.C., M.S., C.N.S., C.G.P

My name is Dr. Christopher J. Amoruso (formerly Rose). My father Angelo C. Rose taught me from the time I could remember the values of Chiropractic care and sound nutrition. I spent my childhood around the office constantly. This was mostly because I was very young at the time and my mother had nobody to watch me. She was my father’s secretary and so I would stay with her while he worked on the patients. It’s kind of funny looking back because I still have patients today who remember coming to my father when I was just a toddler running around the office waiting room entertaining myself (and often times entertaining the waiting patients). I remember being so proud of all of the people my father was able to help.

By the time I had reached high school I had already decided I was going to be a doctor just like my father. In high school I played baseball and was an All-County member of the golf team. After graduating in the top ten of my class at St. Joseph’s Regional High School in Montvale, NJ I decided to pursue a Pre-Med education. I decided to attend Rutgers College in New Brunswick, NJ where I graduated in 1997. After college I accepted a job at Novartis, at that time one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Working there gave me valuable insight into the dangers that come with all prescription medications and helped pave a clear path for what I wanted to do with my life.

It was at that time that I decided to apply to medical, osteopathic and chiropractic schools. In the end, I decided that Chiropractic school was the right fit for me. I enrolled at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic located on the Long Island Sound in Connecticut. The final two years of my training I also enrolled in an intensive Masters program there in Human Nutrition. After four long years I graduated with High Honors from both programs. In July of 2016 I became a Certified Nutritional Specialist (C.N.S.) practitioner.

I was fortunate enough to grow up under my father’s care, learning and experiencing the care he gave to so many patients. However, I was even more fortunate to work side by side with him in the office for my first 5 years of practice. He taught me his techniques and many of the valuable remedies and treatments that he had used over his 50 years of practice. I was able to see everything from Irritable Bowel Syndrome to herniated discs and arthritis treated with great efficacy. Most importantly, he taught me the real-world critical thinking skills you need to be a good diagnostician and healer.

Perhaps the most important characteristic my father passed down to me was his constant desire to read, study and learn. He was rarely without a book close by and would often study and take notes which he would use to implement new treatments and new protocols. Reading and studying are my passion and are part of my regular continuing education.

My father always ran his practice like it was an extension of his own family. Perhaps that is the most rewarding part of running the practice my father founded. The relationships I have been fortunate enough to form over the years have become an extension of my own family. It is through the grace of God that I have been blessed with the honor of serving the patients my father treated for so many years, and the ability to help many more of my own.

In my personal time I enjoy athletics. I exercise regularly at Retro Fitness in Fairlawn, NJ. to keep fit where I utilize free weights, aerobics and stretching. I participate in a softball league each summer and play golf avidly. I currently reside in Bergen County, NJ where I live with my wife, three children, and our two Shih-tzus Tobi and Tucker.
